Carrie Griffith

My name is Carrie Griffith. I’m a freelance writer with a love of all critters great and small. I am a published author in the Journal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, several wildlife papers, articles, and books. I also self-published a collection of veterinary stories called So How Was Your Day, Doc?

In addition to writing, I’m an active veterinarian. I earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine thirty years ago. I am experienced in general practice, behavior, equine medicine, and exotics. I have spent the last twenty-four years practicing small animal emergency medicine.

I am a member of several professional veterinary organizations and The Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. I support numerous wildlife/environmental groups through my efforts in research, habitat management, and wildlife rehabilitation.

When I’m not caring for animals or writing, I enjoy reading, photography, horseback riding, volunteering for the Cuyahoga County Metroparks, and spending time with my family, friends, and my furry kids.

Enough about me! Please read on to see what I can do for you!

Letter from The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge #1

I wrote many letters to my family when I was a biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 1984. I thought readers would enjoy hearing about what it was like to live on the Alaskan tundra. I hope to spark some interest in the amazing "American Serengeti". I hope to make people aware of the threat of oil exploration and the destruction that it can cause to this beautiful and wild treasure.
